Both the object picture and the hollow character are printed on a piece of wooden board and children would fill up the hollow words with the modelling clay in order to learn about the structure of the radical Chinese characters. This exercise would help improve concentration and eye focus together with the tactile ability. The strokes and lines combined to become words and as such would motivate children to increase their interest in Chinese characters.

Directly it allows the hands to practice skill movement and control in the pounding and kneading of the modelling clay using the palm, all five, four, three or two fingers only.
